IT’S A return to the south of the Island this weekend for Beach Buddies when the charity holds a beach cleaning event at Fisher’s Hill on Sunday, November 1st at 10.30am.
This beach is where Beach Buddies hosted its first ever group volunteer event, in 2010, asking the public to get involved for the first time.
A total of 35 people turned up, which kick-started the organisation we have today, leading to the creation of the Beach Buddies charity which has now had close to 16,000 different volunteers since it started in 2006.
Sunday’s session starts at the normal time of 10.30am, ending by 12 noon. We provide all the equipment and remove all items collected, recycling as much as we can, including plastics, metals, glass, hard plastics and drinks cans.
New volunteers – as always – warmly welcomed. We had more new faces last weekend at Ballaugh, who all enjoyed taking part for the first time, so we hope to see some new volunteers again this week.
No need to register, just come along and say hello.
