BEACH Buddies has a busy weekend coming up, attending the Douglas Fun Day at Noble’s Park on Saturday afternoon and hosting a beach cleaning event in the north of the Island on Sunday morning.
The fabulous, gigantic steel basking shark, made for us by Steph and Darren at Ice Mann Studios, and paid for very generously by Microgaming, will make its first public appearance of the year at the Douglas Fun Day. We will be close to the Talk of The Town building to meet people and encourage everyone to throw their plastic bottles into the shark’s giant mouth!
On Sunday, August 2nd, from 10.30am to 12 noon, we will be running our first beach cleaning event on the northwest coastline for many months, now that the bird nesting season regulations have been lifted.
It will be interesting to see how much rubbish has gathered during the last six months without any official beach cleaning volunteers events. The meeting point is at the end of the concrete roadway at Smeale. For those not familiar with this part of the world, we have attached a map.
We hope to see you at either, or both, of these events this weekend.
