Beach Buddies is encouraging volunteers to brave the weather and take part in a “beach clean with a difference” on New Year’s Day for the annual dip which this year will feature the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and his wife Lady Philippa, who will both be joining in the dip itself.
Beach Buddies will be cleaning up the beach and removing seaweed and any other items to make it as safe as possible for what we expect to be another record number of dippers, raising funds for Breast Cancer Now and Beach Buddies.
Volunteers who can help are asked to be there for 10.30am to clear the beach in front of the Queen’s Hotel on Douglas Promenade. If you have garden tools such as a rake or fork that would be very useful. If you would prefer you can “rattle a bucket” to help raise funds.
And any of our volunteers who want to take part in the dip itself are more than welcome. Registration can be made online in advance or on the day from 11am.
