BEACH Buddies will return to the south of the Island this weekend with the first visit for some time to the beaches of Port Erin. The meeting point is outside the ice cream parlour on Port Erin promenade. We plan to cover as much of the area as possible, including Port Erin bay itself, surrounding footpaths, Spaldrick and possibly Fleshwick too, if we have enough volunteers.
Many thanks to Jackie and Adrian Darbyshire (and their little baby) from IOM Newspapers for coming along last week to the Mooragh Park for the first big clean-up of the year at this venue. We had a great number of volunteers (53) considering the very cold and windy conditions and 12 brand new volunteers amongst them too! There’s a great 2-page feature on the event in the Manx Independent with loads of pictures of our volunteers. Amongst our many interesting finds was a gold ring and a FitBit – both yet to be claimed.
