ON International Women’s Day Beach Buddies is delighted to say that females dominated our session today at Langness.
We had 78 volunteers in total, and 58 of them were female, ranging in all ages from a lovely little 2 year old taking part for the first time to two grandmothers who clean up with us virtually every week!
We didn’t promote this as a special event for International Women’s Day but – to be honest – the number of females taking part in beach cleaning throughout the year is pretty much always more than men.
Not quite sure why – but that is a fact. And the percentage of teachers we meet when speaking in schools is massively in favour of females.
So, when is International Men’s Day? Time for the blokes to get together and throw down a challenge to the ladies??
PS – it was a great morning at Langness. We shifted massive amounts which will be weighed tomorrow, and it was a bit fresh (really cold actually!). Thanks to everyone, particularly the nine new volunteers taking part for the very first time.
Next week we are having a brief break and will be back in action on Sunday, March 22nd at a venue to be announced.
