The Isle of Man has received extensive worldwide publicity with a major feature by National Geographic which is now online. National Geographic has a global reach with 60,645,765 online unique users.
The article was written by freelance reporter and photographer Kingsley Singleton who visited the Isle of Man for the first time last summer. The article focuses on Beach Buddies, DEFA’s marine conservation programme and the Island’s unique UNESCO biosphere status.
Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale said, “I’m fairly sure this is the first time the Isle of Man has gained extensive publicity like this in National Geographic. I expected maybe we would get a page or two, but this is really exceptional, and really positive.
“I spent several hours with Kingsley Singleton on the beach at Derbyhaven and basically told him the story of Beach Buddies from how it started to where we are now.
“This is really positive publicity and it can only be good for the Isle of Man and our people. More than anything else, I really hope this helps Beach Buddies in our mission to spread the word around the world about what we as a nation have achieved in the Island.”
