EARLY notice – this coming weekend we are joining with the Manx Tri Club again to clean up the Mooragh Park lake. You will definitely need wellies! If you missed this last year, you missed probably the best event of the year!
Last year we joined together for the first time for a memorable afternoon, shifting more than 1 tonne of rubbish from the lake. It was the first time for many years that such a clean-up had been attempted, so we don’t expect to find so much this time – but you never know!
The event is on Sunday, January 12th, and starts at 2pm and finishes no later than 3.30pm. The meeting point is at the Mooragh Cafe where all equipment will be handed out.
Based on last year, you will definitely need wellies! And perhaps some waterproof / mud proof clothing too! It was a brilliant event last year and we expect the same atmosphere of fun this time too.
For those who don’t fancy getting into the lake itself, your help is needed to clean up around the outside of the lake, or to go to the beach just a few yards away. All welcome, especially anyone who missed out on this event last year. We had a fantastic turnout of 229 volunteers last year, with 109 brand new faces! Amongst the mud on the bottom of the lake we also found a wrist watch which had been missing for a very long time – and it was still working. Amazingly, one of our volunteers knew who had lost it, and returned it to the owner!
Whether we can beat last year’s fantastic total is a big question, but we can give it a try. Everyone welcome, especially families. Children – from 4 to 84 – will thoroughly enjoy themselves!!
