STAFF from FIM Capital – the headline sponsors of Beach Buddies – have led a major clean-up of Douglas beach, collecting more than 100kg of rubbish.
Desks and computers were swapped for bin bags, gloves and litterpickers when the company gave staff time off work to join Beach Buddies in one of their regular assaults on Douglas beach.
Ropes, buoys, fast food containers, plastic bottles and tin cans made up the majority of the finds – along with the small unidentifiable pieces of plastic which cause so much harm to seabirds and marine life.
FIM Capital have been headline sponsors of Beach Buddies for the last four years and earlier this year renewed their connection to the charity with a long-term sponsorship agreement.
The company’s staff have also taken part in numerous regular beach cleaning events, with a number of employees also becoming regular volunteers at the weekly session all around the Island.
“This link with FIM Capital is the perfect partnership,” said Beach Buddies founder Bill Dale. “What makes it special is that four years ago they approached us to ask if they could become involved, and the relationship has grown ever since.
“Beach Buddies really appreciates not only the financial support FIM Capital has provided but also the genuine support of the staff and management.”
Chief Investment Officer of FIM Capital, Russell Collister, said, “We are delighted to continue our long standing association with Beach Buddies and to support the incredible work that Bill and the team undertake.
“Whilst our sponsorship provides continuing assistance to an important charity, our recent beach clean at Douglas was also an opportunity for the FIM Capital team to get away from the desk and make a real difference to our local community whilst also enjoying the fine Manx autumn weather.”
